Development of the ONU virtual training course “Biotechnology” (in cooperation with the MHH)

The "Biotechnology" course introduces the basics of modern biotechnology; areas of application of biotechnology; main groups of biosynthesis products and producers; the raw material base and the principles of formation of nutrient media that are used in biotechnology; the main stages of the biotechnological process; principles of mathematical modeling of the microbial population growth kinetics; methods of ensuring asepsis in biotechnological practice; methods of cultivating cells of microorganisms, plants and tissues in the laboratory and industrial conditions.
During laboratory works, students will perform and learn technology for the production of bacterial plant protection preparations, implement the experiment planning using mathematical methods, carry out the selection of starter cultures and obtaining seed material, carry out the selection and optimization of the composition of the nutrient medium for the cultivation of the producer, master the principles of choosing typical fermentation equipment and carry out the cultivation of the producer and create the final product. This course will be included in the curriculum.
