"Genome sequencing and annotation"

The course provides familiarization with the theoretical basic sequencing technologies and the possibilities of their application which will give them the opportunity to choose sequencing technology and apply existing software to solve given biological problems in this area. An integral part of the course is teaching students to use the basic technical means of searching for scientific and biological information, the use of applied software packages, working with biological data, and working with biological information in global computer networks.
As part of the course, there is a study of the analysis of the quality of sequences after sequencing, assembling raw sequence data to genome sequences and/or aligning them to existing reference genomes, carrying out genome annotation and visualization of the results, which the students will conduct independently during practical classes using appropriate bioinformatics programs and servers.
Students must learn how to efficiently carry out analyses and choose as well as application methods in comparative genomics to analyze and draw conclusions about the biology and evolution of the organism. This course will be included in the curriculum.
